Gender-Affirming Care · Southwestern Ontario

Electrolysis for your transition, with dignity and discretion.

Facial feminization and pre- and post-surgical hair removal for gender-affirming surgery, in a private, queer-positive clinic where you are welcomed and respected exactly as you are.

A space that gets it

Care built around respect.

Electrolysis is a cornerstone of gender-affirming care, and it is deeply personal work. In The Styx is a fiercely inclusive, queer-positive practice. Every appointment is private, unhurried, and judgment-free, and your comfort and confidentiality come first, always.

MTF

Facial feminization

Permanent removal of facial hair to soften and feminize, treating every hair colour and skin tone, including the light and grey hair that laser leaves behind. We work at a pace that suits your skin and your life.

Pre-surgical

Clearance for GRS/GCS

Specialized pre-operative hair removal of the surgical site for vaginoplasty and phalloplasty. Surgeons ask for the donor tissue to be hair-free so grafts heal cleanly, and this clearance needs to be planned well ahead of your date.

Post-op

After surgery

Touch-up and finishing work after your procedure, handled with the same care and discretion.

FTM

Supportive of every path

Whatever your transition looks like, you are welcome here. We tailor the plan to your goals and timeline.

Timelines & commitment

What to expect, honestly.

Hair grows in cycles, and a follicle can only be destroyed permanently while it is actively growing. Because your hairs are always at different stages, permanent clearance takes a planned series of sessions. These are typical ranges; your consultation gives you a personal estimate.

FocusTotal treatment timeTypical duration
Facial feminization (MTF)100–200+ hours18–24 months
GRS/GCS pre-surgical clearance30–60+ hours12–18 months*
Upper lip / chin4–10 hours6–12 months

*Pre-surgical clearance must be completely finished 2–3 months before your surgery date so the tissue is healed and hair-free. Ranges vary with hair density, skin, and hormones.

Planning around your surgery

Start early, finish on time.

If you have a surgery date, or expect one, it is worth beginning clearance as early as you can. We will map the area, plan a schedule that fits the 12–18 month window, and coordinate so you finish with time to spare. Bring any instructions from your surgical team and we will build the plan around them.
